Minecraft 1.13.2 LAN Issues?

I use a desktop PC and my friend uses a laptop. My friend is unable to join me (I show up in the server list they just can't join) and when I join them it lags way too much. Anyone know how to solve this issue?

Are you on the same network? Or are you each on separate networks?

If the same network, there shouldn't be anything blocking.

If different networks, you have to adjust settings in your router to port-forward the network traffic from the router to the server.
