If you already have your PC running 24/7 then there will be no difference in having it run the server 24/7. If you don't, then yes it is generally fine to leave a desktop always running.

No the normal pc processors are not designed to run 24/7 except the xeon ones. It will decrease the life of your computer componenets. Ever wondered why server grade computer components are made?

Blue koda is correct. It will not harm the computer to run it 24/7. Just be sure to reboot it once a week.
