I can't connect to Minecraft Servers?

Any time I try to connect to a Minecraft server (Given they are up and I'm not banned) the game tries to connect then gives me this error message: "Failed to login: The server encountered an unexpected condition which prevented it from fulfilling the request."

Does anybody know why this is happening and how I can fix it?

Probably because at that moment when you were trying to connect, Minecraft was down in general so no one could play the game. You should be able to play once Mojang fixes the issues on their end. Usually that's what that particular message means.
