Is it possible to play Mincraft PS3 on a PS4 with other PS3 users?

I own it for PS3 and am getting a PS4. I know you can't play together between the two systems but can I play two copies of Minecraft PS3 if I use both a PS3 and PS4?

this means you can't play minecraft ps3 version on a ps4.

I heard on the news somewhere that Mojang is planning on doing that for a small fee of $4.99. From personal experience, I'm currently playing Cod Ghosts on the PS4 using the PS3 disc. But you have to go through some steps for it to work, you can't just insert the disc on your PS4 and expect it to work.
