How to stop monsters spawning on peaceful mode on the PS3?

I got minecraft for my PS3 the other day, but can't seem to find anyway to stop monsters spawning. I just want to build/explore maps without having to worry about monsters, hunger etc. And not having monsters destroying my builds that I have spent ages on. I've tried searching this online but can't seem to find the answer online.
