I know notch said he wasn't real but i think thats a joke, i just bought the minecraft playstation 3 edition of PSN store and my cousin told me about heroberine after finding a castle with redstone lights and " his pickaxe" as he says. I don't believe it but he insists he is real and i done a bit of digging and found he was "removed" in update 1.7 or something. Is this true because even though i haven't found any evidence of him in person i'm nervous i will run in to him after mining gold or dismonds or iron and he will burn my house and kill me

Herobrine is a joke- his "removal" in the patch notes is to point fun at the fact he doesn't exist.
His only "existence" is through skin selection. Otherwise, there's no such NPC or character in any edition of Minecraft. People who claim he exists are either trolls or newbies… No disrespect.

He exsists on Minecraft PE and X-box. As far as I've seen on ps3 personally, there are some signs of him every now and again. It's just an issue to know for sure. The link below should help to try and find him.
