You can't take screen shots on ps3 games, the online manual is wrong and is giving instructions for the psvita which lets you take a screenshot by pressing the home and start buttons at the same time. Ignore that ps3 guide, its wrong
if you want to take a screenshot you'll either need a capture card and laptop or to take a camera and take a photo of your TV screen and hope for the best.
