Minecraft PE nether fortress?

I'm trying to find the nether fortress, so I went into the nether on creative and flew around for awhile. I had no luck finding it but I did find some netherbrick, so I dug through it and found what should be the nether fortress, but it led to nowhere, and was really short. Should I dig around in the area, or look somewhere elts.
