I have absolutely no clue how to use external servers, I don't know they want my ip address or someone else's. No idea what the damn port number is or do I roll with the one already there? They've made this way more complicated that it was, all you had to do was turn multiplayer on in your new world and have a friend on and you were golden. P.s. Some friends don't even appear online when i know they are because they're right beside me.

Minecraft Pocket Edition is a port that gets ignored most of the time.
I tried to figure it out myself, just got bored trying and ended up getting nowhere. So I gave up trying.
I'd recommend you do the same.

You open the server settings and add your IPv4 the router assigned. You can find it by typing ipconfig into cmd after you right click it and run it as administrator. Afterwards you log into the router and look for port forwarding settings and then add a port for your local IP. The one specified in settings. Probably 265524 or something like that. Make sure you setup your local IP as static (DHCP) so your IP doesn't change
