My minecraft LAN isn't working?

I triend to play with my bro so I opened my world to LAN but on his multiplayer it just says searching local network. We're both on the same internet connection and minecraft 1.7.10 can anyone help?

You need to run a local minecraft server. Just find the exe file on the main minecraft website

Check your firewalls on each PC, you need to allow the Minecraft ports incoming on the PC that is running as the "server"
