Why Can't I enter full screen in Minecraft?

Every time I open up minecraft I go into the options and click full screen. But when I do, It closes and takes me back to the launcher. I do have mods but I think its my computer. BTW its not a mac. Please help!

Added (1). How do you change that? Sorry i'm a noob.

Maybe the resolution setting (which you can probably change in the launcher's options menu) is too large for you pc to handle full-screen. Probably not but may as well give it a try and put the resolution down a bit.
