How to play multiplayer with someone in your house with mods?

So I have a friend and we want to play Attack Of The B Team and we already have all of the mods loaded, but i want to play with my friend in my house with separate computers. I don't know if it's Lan or something, but I don't know if i have to make my own server and everything. If so could you tell me how? I have Windows 8 and I have Minecraft 1.7.10.

You can connect with each other via LAN if you all have the mod, though of course you'll also need to have someone host the server on their computer (preferably the one with the more powerful computer should).

I also suggest getting Hamachi to do this, as it makes connecting to the LAN server easier. Basically you run the server and the port used is the default one. What makes it easier is that you don't have to find the default IP address for that computer to connect, as Hamachi does it for you.

All you do is type in the IP next to the person's Hamachi ID and connect to the LAN server you made. What Hamachi does is that it creates a VPN (Virtual Private Network) which emulates a LAN connection. This allows you to play various games if you live in different areas as if you were side-by-side (though lag is still factored).
