How much strain does Garry's Mod put on your computer? Can it run better than Minecraft?

I was thinking about buying Garry's Mod, but I wasn't sure how resource-intensive it is as I've only ever watched videos of it. My comp can run games like Minecraft on low-medium settings pretty well, so could it run Garry's Mod just as well?

My PC sucks and I can run garrys mod on high so yes and you can probably run it on high but do it on med so you can spawn a ton of stuff
