The mod was really cool. You could forge custom parts of a tool and then put those parts together to make a custom tool. You could even make hammers and weapons and stuff.

Tinkers' Construct, it's part of most mod packs, allows you to forge swords, hammers, pick axes, axes, frying pans, bows and excavators.
