Minecraft furnace isn't working?

It's gotta be wood planks and wood logs

In minecraft, you need wood logs to make charcoal not planks. Planks can be fuel but they burn out really quickly, if you want charcoal you'll need logs.

It doesn't work because you are putting wood in both boxes. You should only put wood in the fuel box and in the other box you should put the material you want to smelt. Here are some examples.

- Putting raw meat and fish in a furnace will cook it
- Putting in cobblestone will create stone
- Putting in sand will create glass

Just remember to put the fule (wood, coal, bucket of lava etc.) into the fule box and not anywhere else.

I put the wood log in the fule box and the other box and it still won't work.
