In the snapshot 14w31a, command blocks recognize the names of items instead of their id. Andisite blocks were recently added, but andisite is just stone with a damage value. My question is, how do I use /set block or /fill to place blocks with a damage value? Tip: saying "I don't know" isn't helpful. Yes it has happened many times.

The item ID for andesite and polished andesite should be 1:5 and 1:6. Try using those values.
