I really like to have my first gamming laptop to play on. I wanted to get the 1000$ ones but my dad will probably say no since its alot of money. So anyways if they are gamming laptops less that 500 can i play games like minecraft, sims, call of duty ghost maybe? Can i?

Minecraft and the sims, might run on on a computer with a 4th gen i5 or i7, but no promises
if you really want to game you will have to spend a minimum of 900 on a laptop

Not really tbh. You need to spend more if you want the GPU and CPU that can run new games

Well youll want to be looking for a laptop that probably does not have an intel graphics card as it can't handle 3D games very well. (IE: Alan Wake)
Right now my the laptop that i have works fine and can run many games like:
League of legends (Medium to High quality)
Minecraft (High everything)
Osu!
Team Fortress 2
Hearth Stone
Terraria
Dragon Nest
Chivalry (Very Low, laggy at times, but still play-able)
Gary's Mod
And even Starcraft II (Medium)
It can run all of these games + Skye running in the background, so i think its more than capable of playing to games that you may be interested in (Although it can't run some of the higher quality games like Arma)

As you can see my laptop isn't very well built for games as i bought mine mainly for school, but i play games on it anyways.
I got mine at costco for 400$, so it should be somewhere around that price range
