In minecraft how do i get hoppers to place things in chests?

I play minecraft on my pc and I'm new to automatic things and Redstone I made a wheat farm that all I have to do is replant seeds but I don't know how to get it to place things into a chest I need help

I think you just place it on chest

You place it on top of the chest so the small end point's downward.
