My items in my inventory and chests on Minecraft disappeared?

Added (1). I've been playing on the new 1.8 update on my survival world but I switched back to 1.7.10 so I could play on the servers that aren't on 1.8 yet and I went back onto my survival world on 1.7.10 and now all my stuff from my inventory and chests is gone…

If I had to guess, I'd think the item IDs from 1.8 changed and when switching back, it may have caused an item error like inventory of both player and chests.

You may want to report this to Mojang about that.
