I can't get minecraft to play split screen?

When I start minecraft signed in to guest or not signed the press start will never sho up and yes I have a HDTV. My gold account starts the game and guest can't join no matter what

For Minecraft to work correctly, you will need a working HDMI cable.

Gamestop, best buy, and any big tech store will sell them.
