How to transfer files from one computer to another then back again? - 1

Ok let me start from the beginning. My step dad gave me a Lenovo laptop with an intel pentuim processor and windows vista on it. He then proceeded to "upgrade" my computer and put windows 8 on it. But the computer isn't supposed to run windows 8. I mean it worked great on the computer and i love it and though hey not as heavy or stupid as my last lap top. And I was really phsyched out cause he told me it was better for playing games on, and at the time I was really into minecraft. So I downloaded the minecraft launcher and it almost worked but right as it was about to load the last 1-2% of the game it crashed. I read the crash report and it informed me that basically windows 8 and certain drivers were not compatible so about 6 months ago I told my step dad I really wanted to play the game, so he upgraded the drivers and it worked great.still couldn't play but oh well. Then one day my computer got really slow and then.blue screen of death. I can't turn my computer on without it wanting to do an error report which doesn't work or having me wipe the whole laptop. So I guess what I'm asking is: in theory is it possible to take my ram or whatever has all my saved stuff in it, put it in a different computer, transfer the files, put it back into my computer then put all the files back onto my computer?

You don't say if you have your personal files backed up. You can re-install Windows Vista, but it will wipe the hard drive and you will lose all of your files.

After you know you have a good backup of your personal files and are ready to re-install Windows Vista, press F11 while the machine is booting. It should starting loading Rescue and Recovery (R&R) for you.

Go to the Lenovo website to get the correct drivers. Or just buy the Recovery Disk for about $20 and re-install Windows from that.

RAM is Random Access Memory that is what runs your programs, it's not used for long term storage only temporary storage (another words most programs delete everything they put on your RAM when they close)

What you want to do is copy the contents of your Hard Disk Drive (HDD) to another storage device there are a few ways of doing this.

1). Get an External Hard Drive or a Flash Drive. Copy your files onto it and your good to go. (depending on the size of External Hard Drive or Flash Drive you have and the size of the files you want to backup you might have to make multiple trips to transfer your files to another PC)

2). Get blank CDs/DVDs and copy your files onto those

3). Split your HDD into two partitions and put the files you want to backup onto your second (empty) partition when reformatting only reformat the 1st partition.

4). Open up your PC take the Hard Drive out and try putting it in the other computer (I personally haven't had any success with this option but it might work only try it if you know what you are doing though, there are bios settings you have to change and everything it becomes a real pain.)
