How to spawn items in Minecraft version 1.7.4?

I'm playing version 1.7.4 of Minecraft and have figured out that you can no longer craft saddles for horses and I was wondering if anyone knew how to spawn a saddle in survival mode. I have searched and have been unable to find any dungeons so this is my last resort. Any answers will be very helpful.

/give 329

/give (playername) 329

Then check your inventory. However, if cheats are disabled this will not work. Cheats can be enabled or disabled when creating a world. You can't enable or disable cheats after you create the world.
