How to make good games work on my bad laptop?

I have a bad laptop and don't wan't to upgrade. I was looking for how to make it better and I've found how to reduce gaming lag which worked for me. I was wondering If there's a way on making good games such as DotA 2 work on my laptop. Thank you for answers!

Laptop specs:

1.66 ghz Intel Core 2 duo processor
1 gb RAM
Intel chipset family 965 video card
200 gb free space

(Yeah it's that bad, but it can run LoL and Minecraft no lag)

If you've turned down all the settings already then there's not much else you can do. That computer is not made to play games and there's no way you'll magically make it capable of running them flawlessly.
