How to make downloaded minecraft maps and worlds work?

So i downloaded maps from a minecraft website with working maps but i don't know which folder to put them in and how to activate them and apply them to my minecraft?

To download maps on minecraft it's really easy all you have to do is:
1) Click start and open Run
2) Search %appdata%
3) Open.minecraft
4) Open Saves
5) Place the file in there
6) Open minecraft and click single player
7) Click on the world and play
