How to make chunks load faster in minecraft?

So my computer will run minecraft at 80 FPS at the highest possible settings, but when chunks start to load it drops to around 40FPS and sometimes much less. Is there any possible ways to make chunks load faster? Could I put Minecraft on a Ramdisk? Should I upgrade to a SSD? Should I increase my RAM from 6 to 8GB? Anything? (i don't know if any of those will do anything, i'm just spitting out random things).

I have 64-bit windows 8 with 64-bit java. (i don't know if thats relevant)

You could increase your RAM, but if you don't have the money for it, you could always turn down the view distance.

Pause the game. That way, it focuses on nothing BUT loading chunks.

One thing you can do is allocate more memory to minecraft. THis should help a bit and there are many tutorials online for how to do this. Minecraft comes only using up to 1GB, and there's an easy way to change this to use more.

Putting minecraft on an SSD will help with chunks you have already loaded once before.

The best way to make it run faster is to get a faster CPU. Minecraft uses alot of CPU and not the graphics card too much, so getting a beffier CPU will increase performance. However, being written in Java, Minecraft is inherintly slow, and not really desighned for high end computers. I have seen even the beefiest computer have massive lag spikes.
