Today, in Minecraft, I pulled a really stupid move. I needed to move my portal, because it spawned in the air. I climbed up to it, and went to my house to get my ONLY DIAMOND PICKAXE. I went back to that cavernous hell that I'm now trapped in, because upon destroying my portal, I realized that I forgot to bring my flint and steel. I'm now stuck unless someone can tell me how to light it again.
How to light a portal FROM the Nether?
Depends, are you playing console? If you are you might have to make a new world. I think you can try having a friend join your game and hopefully he/she will spawn in the regular world to come to you rescue.
You can get a Ghast or a Blaze to light it for you if you get it to shoot at the correct angle.
Here's a video showing an example:
There's a way but it's kind of complicated. Essentially, you need to take the blocks to a lava river in the nether, then use wood blocks to transfer the fire from the lava to the nether portal. Here's a video:
if this doesn't work or if you don't have the materials necessary, switch to creative so you can get an unlimited supplies so you could get flint and steel, then switch back to survival when you're done. If you can't do any of these, you can try to gather what you can from ghast drops, blazes, and withers to make fire charges to re-light the portal. Or if none of that works and you have absolutely no solutions, then you'll have to kill yourself to spawn back in the overworld, then re-enter the nether to get your stuff back WITH the flint and steel with you
