How to install Minecraft from a USB stick/flashdrive into Linux Mint 17?

How do you do it? I heard from a buddy you had to run it as a.java file or something. There's a program to run Windows programs on Linux but we can't download anything in school. (My school runs on Linux) My programming teacher is a %100 cool with it; I'd just like to know numbered, easy-to-read instructions.

**Planning to do it from Windows 7 Ultimate to a Lexar 16GB flashdrive and then finally to Linux Mint 17.

Hi
You don't " install" minecraft in linux you just run the file

Move minecraft.jar to computer.
Click on minecraft.jar file.

if click won't work then issue command in terminal when in same folder as minecraft.jar

java -jar minecraft.jar

the terminal will tell you if you need to upgrade your Java runtime engine (JRE)

If runnung from terminal window don't close the window
