So I just bought a horror game (alpha) called The Forest, which is quite recent, and it's the first ever horror game I have ever got (except Slender: Eight Pages, which everyone was playing so I knew what to expect). So I spent good money on it, and it's on my home menu just staring at me, but I can't click it because I'm too scared. And when I got close, I freaked out and shut down my computer because of the suspense. I have no idea what to expect, except I know it's kinda like Minecraft and DayZ, so I freaked out. But the thing is, I really want to play this game! So how do I get myself to do this, and are there any tips on how to be less scared while playing?

You. You could stop spending money in cheap scare games and play some actual Survivor Horror. But, like most PC Gaming you won't find a lot of those on PC.

You need to get that nothing in this game will harm you in person no matter what. So just keep remembering that you are completely safe

Did you start off by playing a classic? Slender is a good option (If you played it, the great)
Now remember, if you are kind of scared:
Lights on
Don't be alone
Remember it is JUST A GAME!
Remember you bought it. You don't want to waste your money.
Get your friends to join you. This will make you all scared, but I swear it is fun!
Think of yourself as the superior one in the game.
