How to fix the black screen on minectaft for mac?

Ok, so I bought minecraft a few months ago. I tried to get on but right after the Mojang screen it went black and I can't play. I have been on the PE but I really want to try the PC version on my macbook pro. I'm not very good with computers so I need simple steps. Please hep!
