How do I make a villager a farmer in Minecraft, I have put him in my farm but he just stands there doing nothing Any help would be great?

Put some animals and plants near him, make him touch them, that will make him a farmer.

I think he needs a work station. Put a composter down and see if that helps. With the village and pillage update, all the different jobs have a workstation block associated with them
