How do I get diamonds in the Minecrafts?

I was playing minecraft and I was walking on this tree looking for some diamonds, but I couldn't find any. My friend told me you could find diamonds "anywhere" so I started looking, and I can't find them.

Dig very deep into the ground, but make sure you're able to find your way out.

You go mining but they are very rare i would recommend finding a ravine and go for a search in there

diamonds look like iron ore but they have a very noticeable teal/ light blue colour

You want to dig down. Bring out your map look at the Y axis and when you reach 12 you've hit diamonds. You'll have to mine with a iron pick ax for diamonds. Be careful LAVA in this area… This is for xbox one Minecraft. I play minecraft too.
