I'm going to be building my first ever gaming pc, windows 7 or 8 is very expensive. I'm thinking of getting steam OS. Will this run games like minecraft and can i install origin on it or fraps. Should i just spend 100$ to get windows?

I think you're better off buying Windows or (*ahem* download it), because Steam OS at it's core is Linux, and can't run anything that is written for Windows 8, Origin for example.
If you need a Windows 8 Pro key, I have one extra and can sell for $45 dollars. (sorry for advertising)

Valve (Stream) OS is Linux operating system, Like everything else Valve want to control their OS and users, I would go with a Linux Distribution that uses Open Source Streaming software. Like Sparky Linux which is stream ready, there are other Linux distribution that are stream ready.
