The fish tank is a 10 gallon Auqeon with a 10 gallon filter… 10 Gallon heater. I'm not sure if the temperiture has anything to do with it but its a comfy 80 degrees… Currently it has 1 tropical fish but there will be more soon

Not a good idea to put anything in your tank that is not a recommended decor for it. Chances are over time, the paint of these things will start leaking into the water and will affect your tank's health. Tropical fishes would need a temperature of 82F max. And be wary of putting in too many fishes in your tank as it is a small tank. Recommended species for it are a single male betta. Or 4 to 6 endler guppies. Or a single dwarf gourami. Or 4 to six male guppies.

Just a side not to Garions answer lower temp to 76. That is more ideal for most small tropical fish

The problem is over time it can leach Harmful chemicals into your tank which could kill your fish.
