Can you? Depends on the system, OS & the version you're running. If you're running an old Java version on Linux, you can likely do it.

SHOULD YOU? Probably not… Most versions of Minecraft on Windows (both Java & Bedrock) like to have around 4 GB's available. HOWEVER, if you cut back on particle effects, go with fast graphics & drop your rendering rate, you should be able to play it at a reasonable framerate.

No you can't, i've tried and was way too laggy for me, no matter what i did.
