Best video capturing and recording program?

Have you seen those videos on YouTube of people playing computer games like Minecraft, and how they record the game (video and sound) AND themselves (again, both video and sound)? Well, I want to start doing that and I'm wondering, is there a program for Microsoft Windows and/orGNU/Linux that will let me make such videos?

Fraps is an amazing recording program and doesn't cause that much lag. It does cost a lot to get, but there are ways to get it for free on youtube! Just do some research and get Fraps for free just like I did.

Edit: It works like a charm when recording Minecraft! Oh, and it depends if Fraps makes you lag a lot or a little depending on your PC

I use Bandicam to record in Windows. It has presets for YouTube and it encodes the video for you so the files are small.
As for Linux… You'll need to look for a program… I've seem some lists when I did a Google search, but as far as I remember recordmydesktop works quite well.

Free Screen Video Recorder is a freeware screen video recorder & screen capture tool that allows you to record any activity that takes place on your screen including windows, objects, menus, etc.
