I need to find a good all-around laptop for gaming and school. Not necessarily for games that require very high performance but more like minecraft/goat simulator/half life (without terrible amounts of lag) but it also needs a decent battery life, to be good for school work, and to be in the $500-$1000 (a bit higher than that is fine) price range. Any suggestions?
Are there any good school/gaming laptops that include my specifications?
A little over your $1000 budget, i recommend the lenovo y50, it has a quad core i7 and nvida gtx 860m, it will run anything you throw at it for a long time to come. Check on the lenovo website the cheapest one is $1100

right at your 1000 budget is the sager np 7378. Also a quad core i7 and gtx 860m, but a 17 inch screen

and closer to your $500 budget, Acer Aspire V3-572G-54S6
Dual core i5 and geforce 840m, weaker that the other 2 but very good performance for $630. This one will have bettert battery life.
oh and i just saw that you want good battery life (sorry, the first 2 laptops i mentioned have terrible battery life…), take a look at the lenovo u series
http://shop.lenovo.com/.../u-series/
they are ultrabooks, which means that they have quite good battery life. 6 hours of video playback or 9 hours of idle. And they are very thin and light, making them portable for school. The graphics are integrated and therfore very weak, but they will play the three games you mentioned without problems, but if you happen to feel like playing battlefield or crysis at some point you will be out of luck
