I'm not very knowledgeable on the X Box but want to buy one for my daughter who loves Minecraft so I have a couple of questions:
1. Is the XBox One the latest one?
2. What else do you have to buy ie this gold thingy in order to play Minecraft?
3. In order for her to play Minecraft with friends is it just a case of connecting to our house Wi-Fi?

3. Yes you just need to connect the xbox to Wi-Fi then you create an xbox live account. Your account name AKA gamertag is the name you go buy online (not real name) and is the way your friends find you to add to their friends list.

2. I would buy another controller if she has friends or siblings. I would also get some games. What's the point of spending 350 in something just to play 1 or 2 games. If she wants to play online with her friends you need to get Xbox live gold membership. The 1 year subscription is the cheapest. 3. If she wants to play online with her friends she will need to get the gold membership. Without it she can't play online.

1. Yes Xbox One is the latest console. The Xbox One REQUIRES a HDTV and comes with a HDMI cable.
2. If she wants to play with friends online she will need a Xbox Live Gold subscription. If she wants to play with her friend on the same TV she will need a 2nd controller.
3. During initial setup, she will need to create an online account. You will then buy a subscription for this online account. Afterwards she can add her friends and play with them when they are online.
The setup will prompt you to connect the Xbox One to your home's Wi-Fi. It's pretty much the same procedure as connecting your phone or laptop to the internet for the first time.
