My minecraft server won't run?

It's been almost a year since I opened my minecraft server so to refresh my memory I looked up how to update it.
I was told download the server file and replace it with the other server file in my Minecrafts server folder.

I did exactly that but when I open the updated server nothing seems to load on it. I just get this My minecraft server won t run

Nothing comes up. I don't know what else to do.

Lol, backup your server.properties and delete the original. Rerun the server file and let the new server.properties build and then power off the server, then open both server.properties and transfer what you had on the old one, to the new one, DON't replace lines, just copy the values. That should work
