Make a job out of minecraft?

Ok, so I have been playing minecraft for a few years and in the time playing it I have noticed that people get hired from strangers to help out with their minecraft servers etc. When I say this I mean to build them attractive buildings and also to code plugins, making the minecraft experience more fun.

I was thinking: Is it a good idea to have minecraft as your job?

It doesn't have a fixed salary, depends if people want to hire you.

I'm currently learning computer science, meaning I will lean coding and java.

So does anyone this is a good idea to think about for your future?

( P.S I'm 14 years old and thinking about either building/ coding with minecraft )

You'd be unlikely to be able to live off it as your only job. Most people that do paid commissions on Minecraft do it as a hobby to earn a few extra pounds a week - you certainly wouldn't earn enough to pay for rent, food etc. Unless you set up some sort of studio with dozens of employees - which would involve a massive initial outlay, and you'd be responsible for people's livelihoods if you couldn't attract enough business.

Also, Minecraft may be the biggest thing ever now, but internet fads come and go, you may find Minecract has run its course in a few years - leaving you with lots of very specific skills that are no longer any use.

It makes much more sense to educate yourself as well-rounded software engineer.

1. Making youtube videos. (Very very low chance)
2. Making Texture packs and get money from Adfly
