Minecraft mods/forge

Hey so i've never modded before so i've been looking at tutorials and there's a mod called ars of magica 2 that i downloaded and i install forge properly but when i put ars of magica 2 in the mods folder it doesn't work in game i also have ars of magica 2 version 1.1.1 if it helps.

If you plan on installing many mods at once then I suggest downloading the ATlauncher and installing a Mod pack. All the mods will download and work without you having to go through troubles of manually installing things like Forge. I highly recommend the Yogscast Complete Pack on the ATlauncher as it has over 240 mods in it. Including all the ones you have mentioned above.
