Minecraft, 1.6.4 + doesn't work?

Added (1). it goes to the main menu screen and such if its vanilla, but it freezes there. For modded it crashes. My pc is not the best but it works well enough

Your computer can't handle the newer versions of the game. But if you want to play minecraft in 256 colors you can try by going to properties. You click on run in 256 colors.
