How to stop minecraft from flickering?

This kept on happening to me, but i play on an hp laptop. I just uninstalled it, redownloaded it, and then deleted the world using up the most space, and it stopped flickering. But i don't know if this would work for you since you have a mac and i have an hp. 2 different brands, but you could still try it.
