Minecraft xbox 360 redstone ideas and tips?

I just got minecraft on Christmas and I was wondering what to build with redstone and how to do it? I'm horrible at redstone and all the cool ideas I have always fail because I do something wrong and don't know what it is… But anyways, ideas?
