Why does fraps make my minecraft lag?

Even for such a game as minecraft it takes alot of ram to play. The view distance and rendering of things takes up alot in a large map game. The fraps also takes alot of ram to capture your game video. You might try using a different recording software like bandicam or something. I'm not saying you need more ram because you don't but try closing other applications running on your system through task manager on processes. Or maybe change the priority of the two applications to higher priority. If it doesn't help then you could check and see if all your ram is their one of your ram slots could be malfunctioning causing you to not have full ram capabilities. Sorry if this doesn't help.

Like Jebes said, Minecraft, depending on your settings, requires a lot of RAM, for rendering map, view distance, etc. If your computer can barely handle Minecraft to begin with, turning on another program will slow your performance.

Try giving java more ram, google it there lots of tutorials
(Don't give java all your ram though)
