Why can't i copy TMI things to minecraft.jar?

Added (1). I can copy out of minecraft.jar but i can't copy anything in.

It might be that it's because what software you're using to open minecraft.jar. Open it with WinRAR or 7Zip. And by the way, you should use Forge because all you need to do is install Forge and drag and drop TMI into your "mods" folder.
