I reallyreallyreally want minecraft and my dad said yes but when we out in all his credit details, it didn't work! It said error and he might have been charged for it and now he doesn't want to try again until I figure out the problem! I really badly want this game and I was so exited for it. The demo worked fine.

1. The information you put in was incorrect
2. The card is no good
3. The card has no money on it
The first thing I would recommend is to find out if the card has been charged for it. Your dad can probably do that online.

There's the possibility that Minecraft does not accept the type of card that was used. You don't say what it was, but I have come across a FEW sites online that do not accept anything other than Mastercard or Visa CREDIT (not debit) cards. I doubt this is the case here, but it's also possible that they don't accept Discover or American Express at all.
There can be multiple reasons
1. Your dad doesn't want to buy it so he put in an expired card or one with no money
2. The information if incorrect
