Which Modelling/Animating/Texturing software is best?

I'm looking at modelling for a basic survival game that my friend will code. I've only ever worked with Minecraft level modelling or texturing (though my textures went beyond 16x16 to 256x256) and I've been told I'm pretty decent. I have a list of FREE modelling softwares below and if anyone could tell me which they think is best or if they've used them before were they good? Thanks in advance! (And yes I'm using Wikipedia links).

As a hobbyist, freelancer, or small to medium sized studio you can use Blender as a low-cost alternative to ZBrush, Maya, and After Effects.

@Paul is right.

Go with Blender. It is free and fully-loaded with the tools for 3D modeling, sculpting, texturing, rigging, animation, rotoscoping, compositing, video editing and simulations.

I myself use Blender for modeling to animation workflow. It has been more than a year, I've been using this program and I completed satisfied with its results. Even professionals use this program too.
