Which is better intel i3 or amd quad core?

I'm looking to buy a computer, they are both hp exactly the same everything but one is i3 and the other quad core also they are both the same price
i will be using it for general browsing, work and a little bit of gaming but nothing crisis 3 but small stuff like minecraft and team fortress anyway, thanks

Spec for spec, Intel will outperform AMD in most benchmarks. The i3 will have hyperthreading, which will provide two virtual cores in addition to the two physical cores. If the application is optimized for Hyperthreading, it will run just like a quad core. That said, at the lower price range, AMD is typically a better value.

Depends on how much you want to spend

Best Gaming CPU for $110:
AMD FX-6300

Best Gaming CPU for $120:
Intel Core i3-4130

"we still consider Intel's Core i3-4130 to be a good starting point for gamers who might upgrade to a faster LGA 1150-based processor in the future."

it seems the reason they like the i3 is because you can use the same motherboard if you decide to upgrade to an i5 or i7 in the future

but you could even go with a really cheap intel if you want and do fine with what you have planned
