When watching a Let's Play series on Youtube, do you prefer silence or commentary?

I've recorded a few of my game sessions, not entirely sure if they are worth uploading so I may not do it.

But do you prefer the player being silent so you can pay attention to the game or do you prefer them commenting on everything?

In my opinion it depends on the game. Games like Minecraft or Dayz should be commentated (Yogscast and Frankieonpc) while story driven games like The Last of Us and The Walking Dead should be done in silence.

I want to know what you think.

For me, that all depends on what is happening in the game at the moment. Generally speaking, I like having the commentary, but if there's a large amount of action or a cut scene, I prefer to listen to that instead.

Normally they are better with commentary, I agree that The Last of Us shouldn't have so much commentary you should just use the commentary when actually playing it not during the cutscenes.

I don't watch Let's Plays for the game play usually. The whole concept started with the idea of commentating over footage. Otherwise it's just a "long play". If I watch a Let's Play I'm doing it for the commentary. And that includes cutscenes and story sequences.

Commentary.

It absolutely need commentary to let the audience know what's going one. You can see a great example below
