What is the Thorns enchant in Minecraft?

Thorns enchant will give a chance to damage anything that hits you when wearing your armor.

Thorns is basically an enchantment used on armor only. When a mob or player attacks you, the attacker also takes damage. It is a high enchant level, but it causes the armor to wear down faster than normal. Thus, it has advantages and disadvantages.
